Your Fall Activity Checklist

With fall comes a whole slew of new family fun activities to try together. We’ve rounded up the top 5 that are easy and most importantly, super fun! Disclaimer: completing this list may result in being known as a “fun mom.”

  1. APPLE PICKING

Who doesn’t love apple picking? This family friendly activity is not only a classic fall favorite but as we continue to evolve into the digital age, it becomes ever more important to give our children a chance to put away the Ipad games and reconnect with nature. It’s surprisingly satisfying to hand pick your own apples straight from the tree and a great way to stock up on healthy back to school snack for the kids. Many of today’s Orchards and apple picking farms offer après picking activities such as pettings zoos and kids corn mazes so it’s easy to make a whole day of it your kids wont soon forget.

Insider tip: If you plan to pick more than one bag of apples, bring a wheelbarrow along. Those bags can get heavy!

  1. TRY A FALL FRIENDLY RECIPE

In the age of Freshdirect and GMO’s, it’s easy to forget what fruits and and veggies are in season! Shopping fresh fruits and veggies at the right time of year can make all the difference when cooking dinner and serves as a natural, fun reminder to shake up your menu! Here’s a list of what’s fresh for fall – trust us, you’ll want to print this out and stick it on your fridge as a refresher for your next trip to the grocery store.

Get started with these easy, kid-friendly (and healthy – shhh!) Fall fresh recipes:

Perfectly Pretty Pomegrante Pancakes (instagram this one!)

Secret Swiss Chard Pesto Sauce top this on pasta or zoodles

Make-with-the-kids-able Pumpkin Pie

  1. OUTDOOR MOVIE NIGHT

You’ve seen it on Pinterest, but really, it’s easy! Grab a projector. We like this one from Amazon for under $50! Find a dark spot outside your home (you don’t want other peoples house lights messing up the view). Hang a white sheet on a wall in this dark area to project on, or you can get all fancy and buy a Projector Screen Cloth or Outdoor Pre-Hung Projector Screen. Set the projector in front of the screen, hook the projector up to your laptop with a movie on it, throw some cozy blankets and pillows out, pop some popcorn and you’re all set! This is a super fun family-night-in that is perfect for the brisk fall weather. You won’t regret trying this one out!

  1. GO ON A FALL THEMED SCAVENGER HUNT

With school back in session, it’s nice to give your kids every opportunity to play outside! Especially since it’s growing colder every day, don’t miss out on setting up a fall scavenger hunt! Scavenger hunts build important teamwork   and quick thinking skills that will help your child grow as a person as well as have loads of fun! All you’ll need to set this up is checklist of things to find. You can make your own or check out printable lists from some of our fave mom blogs below. Separate your group into two teams, set up a time limit for finding the items on their lists, and compare their findings at the end!
